Skype forced update?

Today Skype opened itself and updated itself whilst I was AFK.

I have it set to manual update only, plus at the time Skype wasn't even running.

Additionally the SkypeUpdate service in Task Manager is also stopped.

This also happened in my partner's Win 7 machine, and looking at the Skype forum, to several other people too.

My question is how did it manage to do this and how can I prevent it happening again in the future?

BTW, this is the desktop version on Win8, not the app version.

Hi and welcome.

Do you have Windows updates set to install automatically.
