I did the .reg file for .exe and merged per the instructions. Did not make a difference. Also tried restore points and my restores fail. Got some issues there. I have however downloaded an .exe file (Malwarebytes) and it executed just fine. The .exe file that keeps opening in Photo Viewer is the Crucial System Scanner download from Crucial.com. Ran the Crucial .exe on another computer and it ran fine. Leave it to me to have weird issues.

Odd. Do you have this issue with any other .exe file? Ex: Notepad, Wordpad, etc....

Notepad and Wordpad both open just fine. Maybe it does not like the Crucial scanner .exe. Not that this is urgent, but I would like to find the reason why. College student in computers and networks.

In that case, it's not an association issue with .exe files.

You might see if uninstalling and reinstalling Crucial Scanner may help.

Uninstalling and reinstalling did not work. I did however run sfc /scannow after googling. I have corrupt files that sfc cannot fix. I ran it 3X. Could be my problem. Not sure how to fix them though. Will search to find out.

It's showing the file below with a hash mismatch from the KB3000850 update. It doesn't look like it's anything to worry about since it's just a hash mismatch.
