    Taskbar Programs Are Not Responding

    Hello all....

I would be thankful if someone can help me with my issue.

I am currently on my Dad's laptop on his behalf. The laptop upgraded itself from Windows 8 to 8.1 this afternoon with no problems. I have 5 pre-pinned programs on my Task Bar. Windows Explorer/File Explorer/Store/Packard Bell Device Fast Lane & Packard Bell Power Button. All but 2 are not responding which are the Packard Bell Device Fast Lane & Packard Bell Power Button.

Can somebody please provide me with a solution?

    Thank you.

I'm wondering if the upgrade changed the pointers; is it possible to determine via explorer.exe the new locations [if that is what happened], create on desktop the new shortcuts, remove the old icons from the taskbar, pin to taskbar the new [now-working] shortcuts? If the taskbarred shortcuts then work -- you can simply move the desktop icons to your dad's utility folder or simply leave 'em be.

Programs appearing twice in taskbar
I'm hoping there's a fix for this since I find it extremely annoying :) As you can see in the picture when I open a pinned program it doesn't extend the icon but creates a new icon in the taskbar. This is not happening with all programs like Opera, but iTunes and Skype are both prone to this...
