I have a new Surface Pro 3 with WIN8.1 and MS Office 10 on it. This is a new machine (2 weeks old.) All Office programs launch properly except Word. When Word is launched (either from a desktop shortcut to the program or by clicking a Word doc) the program opens and immediately displays an error message, "Windows is searching for Launcher.exe" "The drive or network connection that the shortcut 'Logitech QuickCam.lnk' refers to is unavailable. Make sure that the disk is properly inserted or the network resource is available, then try again. When clicking "OK" the same error message repeats. Clicking "OK" again the errors repeat a 3rd. time, then either a blank document opens or the document selected at launch opens. Word behaves normally for the rest of the session.

After a 2-hr session with MS-Office tech support, including the full download repair of Office, and a half-hour of the MS tech in control of the computer doing things, the error persists and the MS tech stated that MS cannot repair it. No Logitech software is now or ever has been installed on this machine.

Has anyone ever heard of this problem, and does anyone know of a fix?

After 2 days of searching and trying things, I found a shortcut in one of the DOCS sub-folders referring to Logitech QuickCam. For some reason, WORD was attempting to run this at launch, producing the errors since the program isn't there. No idea how the shortcut got there, but after deleting it the error stopped. Thanks for looking.
