Installed TrueCrypt and password already exists...

So recently I decided to 'encrypt' my drives for extra safety. I installed TrueCrypt, and began messing with it. I tried to encrypt, or create a new drive, and it asked for a password. Hmmm...does this mean someone else is already using it on my drive?

If it is going to encrypt something it needs you to enter the password you want to use first. You should carefully read the truecrypt documentation before you start encrypting stuff. It would be wise to have a complete image backup of your system stashed away before you start. Keep in mind that Truecrypt has been abandoned so there will be zero support if anything goes wrong.

Thanks for that advice. I thought I understood the rules, as I did go over the documentation page, in which mostly was about the fact that they were shut down. However, when my drives are partitioned in the incorrect format for the software anyway. Apparently, you can 'create' a new 'folder' within a drive that is password encrypted, but my actual drives are not in their compatible format. Maybe that's why I've had issues with data recovery all along?! I I'm having a hard time trying to get my computer back to normal due to someone I know who has embedded so many drivers, some hidden, and has somehow tricked my computer. About a day after doing a fresh install, this person was attempting to play a PC game, "Helicopter Rescue", or something and asked me to see if it would play in my computer. I was extremely hesitant as I had JUST spent five days repairing it via win8 forums and trial and error. Since then, all went terribly wrong and I began seeing files on my C drive that were from last year, when I had just wiped it clean. And then I kept getting unauthorized remote access (caught it running in services, twice), but it's not ticked in control panel or in programs. Anyway, maybe I'm over paranoid, but this is the second install, first 'clean' one within a months timeframe and it's been more than irritating. I'm tired of playing their game of cat and mouse. I will leave true crypt well enough alone, and uninstall promptly. Thank you!! Solved!
