Looks like they have been hacked, I'd expect them back very quickly after a quick clean up.

 you must see a different site to me, all I see is a huge affiliate marketer.
Still, at least they check for and warn about any "extras" that may be bundled which most other sites don't. I admit, I'm sucker for freeware and MG is a first place I check for it. I'm pretty careful with any SW and sites so I don't get in trouble often.

Oh well, it's down for sure, hope it gets fixed. At first it was showing that SQL database was unavailable and then unreachable site. with timeout.

Don't sweat it, they will be back in the next few hours as they are losing lots of money being offline so they will be throwing everything they can at getting back asap.

Tibbets and the rest of the team are probably going bat-sh*t right now, being that a 1/2 hour ago is usually when they start posting the newest program updates

Yeah, I bet, they are more or less volunteers and at least don't live of MG and are doing good work all along. Wish them speedy recovery, would hate to see bad guys win.

I just checked out MajorGeeks on twitter and it looks like they're having drive issues on their server. Last night when I came home from work(late shift this week) at 23:30 they were down too, then this morning when I checked around 08:00 they were up again.

Thanks David, let's see if it holds for a few more hours. Let's mouse over a couple of ads so they'll be able to afford a new disk for their server:tip:.
Don't you have to actually click on them for them to get those 5 cents ?

I'm not sure, In the first one here you have to click though,, but I read somewhere awhile ago that there are ads where a mouse over is enough, probably flash cookie based:
18. In-text Adverting
In-text adverting networks like Kontera and Vibrant Media will place sponsored links inside your text. These links come with a double underline to differentiate them from normal links, and once the user rolls the mouse over the link the advertising will pop. Should the user click on it the site owner will make some money.
Some people make good money with this method, but others refrain from using it due to its intrusiveness. It is also interesting to note that very few mainstream websites have experimented with in-text advertising.

4. Text Link Ads
After Google declared that sites selling text links without the nofollow tag would be penalized, this monetization method became less popular.
Many website owners are still using text links to monetize their sites, though, some using the nofollow tag and some not.
The advantage of this method is that it is not intrusive. One can sell text links directly through his website or use specialized networks like Text-Link-Ads and Text-Link-Brokers to automate the process.
