Solved Apps wont install ----- Troubleshooter results

A number of my (mainly MS) apps were damaged by an agent dealing with anti-virus software. Some key Tiles refuse to respond. After reading much of the detailed help on this Forum I downloaded the Troubleshooter and got the Store back (so some progress}. But the damaged apps, such as Outlook, Calendar and People, OneDrive / One Note, and new apps too, will not install. Some have gained their Tiles back but display an X and report that they cannot be installed. The Store reports 'your purchase couldn't be completed'.

The Troubleshooter reports: service registration missing or corrupt; Store configuration may be damaged; display adapter may be out of date (unlikely, it is a new computer). It also reports that the Store cache has been fixed (a bit more progress).

I know there is lots of info on this Forum alone but would welcome some guidance as to what to concentrate on. I am no expert and want to avoid interfering with things I barely understand, if possible.

Thanks for the quick response. Your suggestion seems to have made some difference but has not solved everything. Bit by bit things are coming back to life. For example I have got Outlook Mail and the Calendar back but not OneDrive / OneNote and some others, less important. I have got the OneNote manual to install which will be helpful when I get OneNote back, as I have had difficulties with it. Also I have found a new glitch, many (not all) of the apps wont open in the Store, they don't respond to clicking. Anyway, I feel I am on the right track with the advice, instead of feeling helpless when the problem first showed up.

I feel it is too soon to mark as solved, but I think I am on the way.

Bit by bit I have been getting my Start Screen Tiles / apps back with the help of advice in this Forum, with one important exception and that is the OneDrive Tile. I even got the OneNote Tile to work (and from it access OneDrive in a roundabout way). The trouble with OneDrive appears to be that unlike OneNote and other apps it does not offer uninstall and it is not available in the Store to reinstall. What is the answer to that? Can someone tell me? Surely there is some way to uninstall / reinstall OneDrive?

OneDrive is part of the OS and can't be un-installed/re-installed. What is wrong with it? Is it missing or not working?

It is just the Tile in Start that is not working, clicking on it just brings you instantly back to the Tile instead of launching the program. Several Tiles were like that but I got them all working by uninstalling the app and reinstalling, which is what I cannot do with One Drive. It is only an irritation now, I must admit ---- I can get to One Drive via a browser, a search or via One Note (which has just disappeared but I got it back with a reinstall). Probably the best thing is to just unpin the Tile.

I have also just lost One Note Clipping and Quick Note and so far have not found where I can download / reinstall them.

For the OneDrive issue you could try to check/repair your OS files. From elevated command prompt enter sfc /scannow . If it finds any errors runDism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and then sfc /scannow again. These commands take a long time and you must reboot in between running them. See http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/3047-sfc-scannow-command-run-windows-8-a.html

Note sure what you mean about One Note. Do you mean this to take clippings from internet explorer? https://www.onenote.com/Clipper/OneNote

If you mean this:
Capture.PNG
then I think it is part of the Office 2010 / 2013 - not the 8.1 Modern App. Do you have Office installed or am I thinking of the wrong thing?

Edit: Starting today you can now download the full OneNote 2013 free. See here: OneNote is now (even more) free! - Windows 10 Forums

I am delighted to see the full enhanced OneNote is now available free from today (news from the Windows 10 Forums). I have been able to get it back by a round about rout, but in the light of that news I wont bother explaining.

Hello admf. To be honest I have to admit to being nervous of doing anything with the OS for fear of 'doing damage'. However, I have been working on a major slow Startup (very slow, would you believe over an hour?) and have made progress with that so it might eventually give me confidence to work on the OS. I am keeping a copy of your instructions re scannow in case I do. Anyway I consider my problem with the Tiles / apps to be solved now. Thanks for the help.
