What is the correct most efficient Program to burn movies I have to DVD and watch them on my regular DVD Player.. (not blu-ray or anything special.. just standard DVD Player)

For example I have some videos from my Ipad I put on my computer.. now I want to convert them to whatever format is needed for my DVD player to be able to watch them..

thanks,

I've been using Nero 8 for several years now with good success, on win 7 I ordered the Nero 2015 Classic at a good sale price and am waiting still to try it on win 8.1 :)

thanks mark,

I have so far tried wondershare ultimate and it makes and takes any video format so far.. but i'm sure convertxtoDVD is good.. i'll have to give that a go..

in the end, i want a fast, efficient program that just allows me to put movies on a dvd for any dvd player.. and also just convert them to MKV as my annoying panasonic crappy 60inch tv only supports those movie files.. and a really slow bitrate too.. which i can't seem to figure out which exact bit rate i should set them for.. if it's too high.. the movie tears and fuzzes.... if its too low the movie looks like crap..

For conversion to MKV many people use Handbrake

I have had bad luck with most of the commercial converters that sell for around $50. I've tried a few on giveaway deals. Often they work fine until you get a source video where the aspect ratio has to be adjusted. Then you get an output DVD that has fine picture quality, but the picture looks squashed or stretched since it didn't handle the aspect ratio correctly.

But on many forums I was on a lot of people said ConvertXtoDVD was the way to go for that price range.
You can get high quality output with free video tools. But it usually takes an investment of time as you learn when you have to resort to or how to use tools such as AviSynth to manipulate everything into shape.

If you like foreign films with subtitles, that is often the fly in the ointment. Many tools will do conversion well until you try to put in the subs. It's often the limiting factor.
