Can't get to apps

I have just setup Win 8.1 on my new computer. But I can't use any of the software. I have logged in to my MS account, but when I click on Internet Explorer icon on the Home screen, I'm taken to a screen to sign in again to the MS account. That takes me to My Account, but I can't find any way to get to the actual IE application. I keep going in circles. Any help will be appreciated.

After going in circles for hours, I finally hit on something accidentally, and got to the IE app. I don't know what I did, so I may not be able to get back. I everything on Win 8.1 this hard to navigate?
