I was trying to mirror my Hp laptop to a different screen with chrome cast. I read to change the screen options to have 2 screens showing. When I scrolled to the right I was given 4 options to cast my screen. I chose one and now my laptop will boot and then go to a dark screen. Does anyone know how to make the screen return to normal? I have a normal boot up screen and then it goes dark.

Most laptops have a Function key that is dedicated to cycling thru the screens (typically F8) so you could try pressing that function key to see if it will cycle back to the built-in laptop screen.

BTW, when using a Chromecast and casting the screen to the TV, there is no need to change anything to use both screens, that is only used when using a Miracast type adapter. Are you using a Chromecast or a Miracast adapter?

Retired in 2015 after working in the tech industry for 41 years. First 10 years as a Technician, the rest as a programmer/software engineer. After 1 year of retirement, I was bored so went back to work as a Robotic Process Automation Consultant. Retired for 3rd (and final) time in 2019.
Thanks strolling.

I will give its shot.

I was trying to use the mirror feature to cast my home screen. Not just a chrome browser tab
