Visual C++ files listed as missing in CCleaner regist tab

Hey! Hardly ever do I use CCleaner but I was bored and decided to use it. When I went on the registry tab I saw this:

3bjX85j.png

Dx0wE61.png

I decided to fix it as I had never paid attention to that ever before (i never had had any problems with it) and basically a lot of stuff stopped working and I had to system restore.

My PC works fine now but those things still worry me as they still show up there, I tried Repairing Visual C++ 2012 and 2013 to their original state but these things still appear. Should I be worried? I know Visual C++ packs are no thing to play around with.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Forums.

When you do a registry clean it's a good idea to save the backup .reg file when CCleaners offers it. That way you can restore the registry without resorting to a restore point.

I would try an old version of CCleaner to see if it shows the same results for registry issues. I used that all the time and only had one version of CCleaner with a bug. I was so confident in it I stopped saving the .reg backup and got burned. But like you I got out of it using a restore point.

Thanks for your reply, I was just wondering if .NET Framework or Visual C++ were damaged or anything as they had never appeared on that list before

The best thing to do if try another version of CCleaner. You can likely get it at Oldversions.com. If the results differ then it may be CCleaner. Generally you don't want to remove references in the Registry to things that are still installed though.

You might bring it to the attention of the CCleaner developers. In fact they are releasing a new beta 5.0 soon, so will be open to feedback.

For myself I wouldn't touch the framework stuff if it is working. The old "if it ain't broke don't fix it" so to speak. Unless it was somehow taking up like 5 times the size it's supposed to or causing some other problem.

Ccleaner always issues fixes for.Net Frameworks, as I've noticed on all my computers. Best to uncheck those options and leave it be. I am sure it is fine to have it 'fix' it, but they were created for a reason to begin with. I tested this with a new computer with a few programs and .Net Frameworks newly installed, so they're created right off the bat.
