Solved Problems after CCleaner update

Hello everyone!
About three weeks ago I updated CCleaner to v 4.18 with the new system monitoring feature and after it was installed, all kinds of strangeness - to the point where I uninstalled it, did a system restore, and basically went into "paranoid mode".

The main problem was a persistent pop-up over my system tray even when all the boxes for system monitoring were unchecked. Also, CCleaner continued to run in the tray even after I closed the program. I started having trouble with Google redirects around the same time (which could very well be unrelated). I kinda thought I might have gotten a bogus version of CC even though I updated from within the program, same as always. I looked at the file "properties>details" & it says "File version 2.0.0.0" but for "Product version" it's blank. Shouldn't the build number be listed there? Did I get a bad copy of CCleaner?

Anyone else have problems with CC 4.18 or any thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks for reading.

Thanks for your reply Nuccii.

I read through the discussion from the link in post #128 in the CCleaner sticky at the top of this page and it cleared up some of the mystery about CC's "System monitoring". In the meantime, version 4.19 has been released. I downloaded & installed it and made sure to uncheck both boxes on the "settings>monitoring" page in CC and am having no more troubles.

I will mark this topic as "solved" and thanks again for your reply.
