Office365-extending subscription problem

My Office365 Home Premium subscription was up for renewal so I got the Military Appreciation version which is just a repriced Home Premium.

Went to my account at office.microsoft.com to do it with IE from Windows 8.1. Scrolled down to use a product key. After entering the product key, was taken to the page to select country/region and language. Language was not selectable and the 'continue' button wouldn't do anything.

Tried from a different box and still no joy.

Did a chat with MS Tech support. Turns out the blasted procedure won't work with IE (whichever version on W8.1). Tech remote controlled my unit, downloaded Chrome and used it and all went just as it was supposed to.

Now simple as that seems to be with hindsight, took the tech about 30 minutes to figure it out too. I never would have thought an MS site wouldn't work properly with IE.

It's the same with Office 365 Business with Sharepoint websites, can't do it with Microsoft's own IE. Also using the main admin panel with IE is a lottery; sometimes there's nothing to see, sometimes parts can be seen, every now and then it works as designed.

That's probably why I can't login to Office 365 account on my Windows Phone 8.1 Office app. I guess that's something they need to fix in Windows 10. Make their own app, programs and websites work with theyr own web browser.

Maybe not. If you have one of the Home versions, you don't use that Office365 login crap on the phone at all. Open it and then swipe to the side and you should be able to see your documents. I don't know how long I fought over that when I got my HTC One (M8) Windows phone.

That login is only for the business Office users and maybe the educational ones also.

Yeah, I have what they were calling the Home Premium version. I think they've changed the name of it, since I got it in January.
