Alternative to Freefilesync

Hi

I have been using Freefilesync for years but every time there is an update recently 'opencandy' gets installed and I have to remove it using Malwarebyes.

I am sick of doing this, so have decided to install a different file comparison program.

I have been looking round, but I would really like one that is very similar to Freefilesync because it was easy to use and it made sense.

I liked the way you could compare folders and it told you what changes were going to happen.

I have recently tried 'Synkron' but it does not give you the easy information I got from 'Freefilesync'

Any ideas?

Thanks

You could try SyncBackFree V6 by 2brightsparks. When you run a profile it'll give you a rundown page of what changes are going to be made when syncing (scroll down to the 'differences for profile' window screenshot HERE).

I used to use SyncToy quite a while ago, but when mirroring left to right, somewhere along the line (maybe 2.1) Microsoft stopped it from deleting files on the right/destination drive that had been deleted on the left/source drive. Which is useless if you want to sync one drive to another backup drive, as you end up with undeleted files/folders on the backup drive, which is a headache.

Bug Fix in 2.1
Fixed the issue that prevented delete changes from being synchronized when the sync option is set to “Echo”.

Been using it for a few years and no problems. I always do the Preview so I can check it out before committing.

What they said it should do, and what it actually done were two separate things. In real life, it wasn't deleting files from destination even though they said it should. Then they abandoned Synctoy altogether, so it was never fixed. Hence why I jumped ship to SyncBack. Apart from that, I liked SyncToy.

I was using Synctoy before I started using Freefilesync.

I could try it again, but I'm wondering if there are any others worth trying first.

Maybe time to look at alternatives:

I'm going to give 'SyncBackFree V6' a try.
