I have found out that when I run Glary Utilities and run the reg. cleaner it screws up my McAfee anti virus, deletes a ref I.D. file.... Which I can add back ..... but I like the program otherwise and wanted to know if under settings which one of the many areas it scans I should unck.... any ideas???? CCleaner does not cause this problem...
thanks

Why are you using it? Honestly I would suggest that you do not. Let the registry take care of itself. It matters not one iota if there are a few unused items in the database - more than likely you will make things worse.

I would not use the registry cleaner in CCleaner either. If anyone can give any concrete example of improved stability or performance after using a registry cleaner or optimiser then I'll be amazed.

I agree with adamf. Even after the many years these programs have been in use the benefits of regular registry cleaning remain as elusive as ever. On the other hand the fact that registry cleaners delete needed registry entries is well known.

The basic problem is that it is rarely possible to determine with 100% accuracy that a specific registry entry is in error. As a result a registry cleaner must make many guesses. Most are correct, but some are not. Then you have problems. Some cleaners are more aggressive in what they consider unneeded or erroneous entries. It makes for bigger numbers to impress potential buyers. The CCleaner registry cleaner appears to be safer but I wouldn't use it either. Why take the chance for such questionable benefits?

That Glary Utilities Suite is aggressive! You gotta tweak it knowledgeably before you use it.
(I'm not even going to get into the fact that registry cleaners are merely a tactical move to sell software!)
