Hello:

We have Borosoft tool but loading a DVD- then what? No visible DVD icon as far as I can tell. I do have Video TS files ( we download a VLS media player) a whole bunch but that doesn't help me. We don't want to $$$ iPad route. everything was easier in 7 or have I gotten mentally hacked?? :D

Help:sleepy:

Mentally hacked, ha ha, that's good one, I must remember that one. But seriously folks, I don't remember DVD ripping ever been an integral part of any Windows. DVD player, yes, native DVD playing have been dispensed of in Win8. "Ripping" means transcoding to other formats like to avi or DivX or making DVD smaller by taking out extra stuff like multiple languages, sub titles or menus and that would be illegal or at least in the grey zone for MS to do that.
Many were using other programs for that, like DVD Fab to compact it or DivX to make it an avi file. Not familiar with that "Borosoft tool" but I'm sure it's never been a part of windows.
P.S. What iPad has to do with all that ?
There are many independent free DVD and all kinds of media players like VLC Player, KM Player or it's successor Daum Pot player that have their own codecs and are much better than MS Media player.
