Anyone have any suggestions on what burning software (Roxio, Nero, etc....) to use with Win 8.1?

Ashampoo Burning Studio works very well and is light on resources. Nero is overkill

Depends on what you are burning.
For images and DVD5 or DVD9 video discs I like ImgBurn
for audio or music file CDs I like CDBurnerXP (automatically handles flac etc..)

Also if you look around there are free Windows versions of tools commonly used on Linux.
There's a searchable database of tools on
VideoHelp - Forum, Guides, Software and DVD lists
