Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but here goes. I should point out I'm reasonably computer basic literate, but not to technical.

After many happy years of working with XP, finally decided to purchase a new Desktop with Microsoft 8.1. I'm now in the process of moving files, data, etc.

My problem is : I have installed Via disc Microsoft Money 2001 successfully, however, I do not know where to find the data history files to copy to my new computer.

i would appreciate any help, as I would like to keep the history of money transactions.

Thanking you

By default, my version of Money saved the data in a folder named "My Money" under the "Documents" (or "My Documents") folder. I think I had the 2004 version, however. Don't know if earlier versions did the same. In any case, I'd search your old computer disks for a "My Money" folder. Another possibility: It might be in the Programs folder where Money is installed.

By the way, when Microsoft "retired" Money, they made a Money Plus Sunset version available. It's available for download if you want to upgrade from your 2001 version. Download Money Plus Sunset Home and Business from Official Microsoft Download Center

Hi rchris,

i tried what you said, and it did seem to work, but I couldn't back up. , I used a memory stick to download the back up file, then then imported to the new computer, and after a couple of attempts to input new transactions it started to back up automatically when I closed the program. The totals matched on both computers, hooray :dinesh: thanks for your help rchris.

regards

peter
