Solved Office 2007 Configuration Issue

I have been battling a problem with Office 2007 applications requiring configuration each time I open an associated file. Microsoft told me they would happily fix my issue for 100.00. I don't think this was appropriate since the problem was caused by my being forced from XP to 8.1. Can anyone help me to fix the issue? Also can anyone tell me what the file stdole32.tlb does? it pops up when opening excel files and requires clicking OK to continue to the configuration progress dialog box. The program works fine afterward but the delays caused by the repeated configuration is very annoying

Hmm, who forced you. There were many other options.

WHS knows too much about Win8, NOT to be critical about it.
Any office updates that you tried ?

I have got everything up to and including service pack three installed and running diagnostics returns no errors. Am I going to have to just live with it? Why did the MS tech make it sound like an easy fix at a cost of $100 when for that money I could pay a bit more and buy 2013?. Also can anyone tell me if the newest office is going to remain exclusively subscription based? I (for one) would rather buy a CD than face annually resubscribing to Office "in the Cloud"

Did you try to repair Office via Programs and Features? Highlight Office there > Push "Change" > Choose which method.

Buy Microsoft Office 2013 suites and Office 365 subscriptions

Don't know about Office 365 but I plan to stick with 2013 as long as possible, it just costs too much.
Back to your problem, maybe top margin is to large. Also, sometimes that can happen if letters are aligned to the top.
