Hello!

Ever since the latest 8.1 patch/update in April win store launches automatically every time I start or restart my PC even though I have launch to desktop by default. I have made sure there are no pending store app updates and I have tried every setting possible but can't stop that app from launching. I don't have any windows mods installed.

I even tried the registry setting provided from this site (http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/5804-store-enable-disable-windows-8-a.html) but the app still launched giving me the message that the "Store isn't available on this computer".

I have looked in task scheduler, but I don't really know what to look for (looks like if i'm idle for 20-30 seconds after start the store launches). Same goes for the event viewer, there is just too much to sift through and again I really don't know what to look for.
In services the "WSService" is stopped.

I have no idea how to stop that app from launching, this is really annoying me, please help! Many thanks in advance!

Edit: I have a local account.

Hello! Thank you for the warm welcome!

Unfortunately the DISM utility didn't work. I ran all 3 commands and on the repair command I got exactly this message:

22949d1371053161t-dism-fixing-component-store-corruption-windows-8-cmd_restorehealth.jpg

...but after a new restart win store was there to greet me again...
This is really getting on my nerves...
What boggles me is that I seem to be the only one experiencing this issue, can't find ANY info about this anywhere.

Is there something else I can try?

Hey Crem:
Check the Startup tab in your Task Manager, and...
check Startup folders(2) for Store shortcuts:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp
C:\Users\your moniker\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Hi Edwin.

This is a screenshot of my start-up in TM:

I've checked the startup folders there is only desktop.ini file in the first one and in the second there is desktop.ini and samsung magician, other than that those both folders are completely empty.

you see why this is driving me crazy?

Do you have any pending updates through the Store, if so, click to choose which to update; or...
Try resetting the Store cache: go to Start and search WSReset.exe

As I mentioned in the OP I have made sure that i have no pending updates....

And I launched WSReset.exe several times both from the start screen and from desktop...

Still being welcomed by Win Store after restart... :(

I allso ran the command sfc /scannow and that didn't find any integrity violations.

Hi David!

I disabled ALL the tasks in the WS folder in Task Scheduler but it didn't help. Last run on WSTask was yesterday when i was gaming (store didn't, and never does, pop up in the middle of things, just once the computer starts).

I didn't find any files or registry settings in Autoruns for Windows that had any thing to do with store either (checked all tabs).

Infuriating:mad:

Does anyone know where and what to look for in Event viewer maybe?
