This is so you don't burn time and effort with this in Windows 8.1 Pro, desktop:
After years and years of saving our Company file as a regular Backup File in Quickbooks, we hit a snag. Quickbooks 2014 Pro saved but absolutely would not restore the company from the backup (.QBB) file. This was a big concern. We spent many hours trying many solutions from the Intuit Community. No joy.
Then as a last resort, we backed up our Company file, not as a regular Backup File, but as a Portable Company File. It backed up and restored like a champ. A side note, if you use Intuit's File Doctor to diagnose, it asks to log into your company file, the user name default is Admin with a capital A, not lowercase as presented by File Doctor.
Seems everything for Windows 8.1 Pro, desktop has been an uphill grind to make it smooth, but it's worth it. Windows 8.1 is the fastest version yet.
