Solved Windows 8 video player keeps crashing

I don't know what's wrong but every time I try to play a video in the preinstalled video player it crashes. It'll open the video and even play it but between every 8 to 10 minutes it shuts down and brings me back to the start screen and I have to reopen the video and find where I was. I know it's not the video files themselves because it's happening on every video and I can watch the entire video, I just have to reopen it multiple time and find the spot it shut down on. If anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it. I could use a different program but it's my favorite video player and I'd like to fix it if I could.

I hope this helps because all I did was follow directions. I have no idea what was being accomplished. I'm not very computer savvy.

Yes, very well.

You must delete this very poor old driver:

2: kd>
Code:
 lmvm NMgamingms
start end module name
fffff800`02df4000 fffff800`02df6c00 NMgamingms T (no symbols)
    Loaded symbol image file: NMgamingms.sys
    Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\drivers\NMgamingms.sys
    Image name: NMgamingms.sys
    Timestamp: Fri Jul 24 04:55:08 2009 (4A6976EC)
    CheckSum: 0000EC2F

    Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4

Open Regedit, then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services

Delete the subkey found there for NMgamingms.sys

Reboot.

Uninstall AVG. Download and run the removal tool for it after. Reboot.

Uninstall SuperAntiSpyware. Reboot. Type services.msc in the Start screen then press Enter. Use that screen to set Windows Firewall and Windows Defender to Automatic and start them too.

Update Intel Management Engine driver from Intel.com:

If you can't do any of these things, I suggest asking a friend or relative to look over the thread to do them.

Enjoy.

Ok, well I was coming back to thank MasterChief for helping me, it seemed to work, and now I see he's been banned for some reason... Sooooo, that kinda threw a wrench into my plan. I'm just glad he commented on my post before he was banned. But anyway, things are working again after following his instructions, and I didn't have to stop using it.

I've used VLC before and for a while, yes, I really liked it but, in my opinion, they've really gone downhill. I do have a second program. It's Media Player Classic, and I find it to be a lot better than VLC.
