Hey Deb1995,

Welcome to the forum :)

Are you logging in to your Windows 8.1 machine with a Microsoft account?

If this is the case your applications and preference choices get linked to this account meaning when you log in to your other computer with the same account you should get the same experience.

If you are using a local account here is how to switch in to using a Microsoft account:

Microsoft have put alot of work in to Windows 8 to make sure you get the same experience across an agnostic range of devices running windows 8/8.1 , one of the reasons they have done this is to reach the needs of consumers like you and I... the way they have made this standardised look and feel it to leverage Microsoft accounts.

Just a quick bit info about Windows Live IDs

Hello Deb, and welcome to Eight Forums.

There's no need to back up your modern apps since they are already available for you from the Store on any PC.

If you sign in to Windows 8 or the Store on a PC with the same Microsoft account that you used to download/purchase the app, then you could use Your apps in the Store to download and install the app on that PC as well.

Option One in the tutorial below can help show you more on how to do this.

Hope this helps, :)
