Cannot get into the Windows store

Acer Laptop :E1-571-6481
factory installed windows 8

I am having problems getting into the windows store on my wife's acer laptop.
When I click on the store tile it goes to full screen for a second but then gives me no option to sign in and no error code, it just reverts back to the desktop tile. When I right click on the tile a small tick appears in the bottom right of the tile but when I go to settings in charms no settings appears for the store.

I have
1. installed all the win8 updates and have run the check that they have installed correctly using the check prog and they are good.

  1. emptied the store cache
  2. tried turning off my bitdefender av
  3. checked that I can access my ms account
Frankly i'm at a loss as to what to do next. Would really appreciate some guidance

So, you have already stated you are logging in with an MS account; yes? If so, you might want to check out this tutorial which may include some things you have tried but may also include some things you have not done. I apologize in advance if this is no help because I'm not an apps guy. I use a local account. Anyway, good luck and I hope this helps you:

I had the same problem which is now resolved...

After installing 8.1, the Store would revert back to the Start Screen after one second.
I posted the problem here, but I made no progress until I found the thread with the title:

Store - Re-register in Windows 8 and 8.1

After upgrading to Windows 8.1, the Store may not start at all.
1. Open a command prompt.

2. In the command prompt, copy and paste the command below, and press Enter. (see screenshots below)

Code:
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.XML

This allowed me to visit the Windows Store.
It has been working for several days now, so it looks like it was my solution.
You may want to try the fix before installing W 8.1 like I did.
Good luck.

1. Thanks to everyone who took the time to give their time, comments, insights.
2. Sorry I have not been very diligent in getting back here to update, I have cancer and am in chemo treatment once a week .. don't always feel great afterwards so this kinda takes a back seat.
3. Have finally fixed the problem .... went to tweaking.com, downloaded windows repair (all in one) and ran it. It did a great job of restoring / repairing missing windows files and reg problems. I'm now able to get into the store. I'll look at down loading and installing 8.1 soon
Thanks again guys
