Office 2013 stopped working

Hi, I hope someone can help,about 1 month ago i installed office 2013 on a new hp laptop 64 bit, os windows 8.1.
All was working fine.Now whenever i go to open (using tiles on start page)ANY of the programs ie Word , Excel etc it just goes straight to desktop.

i've looked under installed programs and office 2013 is still there. i haven't tried a system restore yet or tried opening in the safe mode yet.

try right cliking on the icon for office and choose pin to taskbar ,then go to the desktop and see if it will open

I have only Office 2007, but I assume in Office 2013 that should work too.

Open e.g. Word and click on the office orb top left. Then go to Word Options and run the diagnostics. If it can fix it, it will fix it for all Office components.

problem is they cant open Word, as I read the post ,or if goes straight to the desktop means something else

Did you install windows 8.1 after you installed Office?
After I upgraded to 8.1 a whole lot of tiles did not work any more and I ended up reinstalling a bunch of them.
You may have to reinstall office. You can try to go to programs and features and try to repair it.

caperjack--- Thanks for you reply, but unfortunately it did not make any difference, and yes you are correct in your reply to whs, i cannot open Word, Excel or any other part of office.

sven 1458----Thanks for reply, 8.1 was installed before Office, although i did have trouble installing Office from the "Store" just license number no disc.

Eventually installed ok and running ok for a month.
