Solved Winrar on Windows 8.1 x64

Has anyone else had a problem getting the latest version of WinRAR to run on Windows 8.1?

I downloaded the latest version, seemed to install fine but when I try to run the program nothing happens. I even tried to run it in compatibility mode too and still nothing.

I'm quite sure I read at the RAR Labs website that the latest version is compatible with Windows 8.

Any advice on how to get it to run would be greatly appreciated.

WinRAR 5.01 works perfectly fine with Windows 8.1

You may need to set the file associations to use WinRAR.

To do this: Press win key + s to bring up search > type "default programs" > click "set your default programs" > scroll down to WinRAR achiever and click "set this program as default"

Otherwise the install could be corrupted. You might want to uninstall/reinstall.

Didn't work, wound up just doing a "refresh", all seems fine now and WinRAR works as normal.
