How can I fight the box that opens when I try to see a jpg, say?
The box offers a list of Microsoft applications, not all relevant.
This continues after I associated jpg with Irfan Viewer (thru Irfan Viewer and using Default Programs in the control Panel)
It drives me crazy
thanks

Hello zivshosh,

If you mean that you are getting the "Open with" dialog, then did you check the "Use this app for all .jpg files" box to make the selected app the default app to automatically open it with next time?

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/7811-open-change-default-program-windows-8-a.html

In addition, check the settings in IrfanView to see if it may have one of it's own to set it has the default program for .jpg file.

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

No, it should associate immediately.

Did you try right clicking on the .jpg, click on "Open with" -> "Choose default program" -> IrfanView with the "Use this app for all .jpg files" box checked?
