To-do or Alarm app for 8

Please suggest to-do or alarm app for win 8 where where upon reaching the set time a pop up appears on the desktop. like an interruption. since i'm missing up deadlines for doing some computer work because i get so engrossed in one work. tried googling but didn't work out.

I don't know about a good alarm app. But the agenda in Windows 8.1 does the trick. Just put an item in the agenda with an alarm at a specific time and you will get a sound and popup when the time is there.
