hi Guys,

Very strange......although i am on Office 2010 X64 and have no compatibility problems with Office 2007 (X86)or Office 2003 (X86) in Windows7 i do have issues in Windows 8.

I can open documents (Word or Excel) made in Office 2010, but cannot open those made in Office 2007 (Windows 8).

And yes i know it says "Developer Preview", but still this is odd.

I know Windows 8 is not solid right now, but neither is Office 2010 and this is out for a while.

I hace another question: when i open a Word document and want to save it, i get the message
"Document1 may contain features that are not compatible with this format.

Always standard Windows 8 wants to save the docu as Opendocument text, but i do not know how i can change this in Word docu 97/2003 as a standard. Now i need to change this manually every time

thanks

Jeff

thanks Dave,

but my older files are saved in Office 97/03, so the older computer can access the files also.

Also, i have the same problem with Office 2010, so the SP2 for Office 2007 will not do me any good (i guess)

Come to think of it.....in fact even if Win 8 is still developer preview, i do not understand that Office 2010 is not working as should.

MS should at least before releasing ANYTHING, make sure that their own software is compatible with their own software.

I can understand that third party programs have issues.

And why can a Word docu or Excel docu not be saved has Word-2007 docu or Excel-2007 docu.

Installed SP3 for Outlook 2007 on oe o the other copuers and nothing is changed.....

Strange.....

Hi there
I haven't seen this problem before.
Just make sure that when you installed Office 2010 you selected all the file formats. Choose custom install.

After installation you can change the options too -- probably better to re-install from scratch however.

I can still read EXCEL files from Windows 3.1 (actually EXCEL version 2.05) and Windows 95 !!!.

Cheers

OK I beta tested Office 2010, and as Jimbo stated there is no reason to not be able to save/view any .doc, or .exl files.
I ran both of these office packages with Windows 8 DP and I could not re-create this event. email me thru my profile and we're
get it resolved.

Well guys,

here is a screenshot both in Excel and Word, only problems since i installed Win8 off course. And docu's created prior 2010.

I hate to reinstall Office 2010 right now, since with the beta Win8 coming around march, we all have probably to do a reinstall of Win8.

But i find this strange.

Also trying to open these files from another computer via the intranet, gives the same result.

thanks

hi guys,

installed yesterday the MS Excel viewer (Download: Excel Viewer - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details)
and still could not open the Excel, Word, Access docu's. But this time i could copy the files from another lcomputer to my own PC and files can be used again. this was not possible before.

Jeff

The viewer has something to do with it, because when before i tried to restore all files from 2000-2009 (those who gave me problems), from a B-U DVD made BEFORE installling Office 2010, that did not work either.
