Solved How can I "reinstall" an "uninstalled" app from store?

I added some apps from the Store to my initial Owner/Admin account on Win 8.1. Today, I wanted to have them show on the account that will be used for everyday non-admin stuff. I logged into Microsoft with this account and attempted to add them to show on this account (after temporarily promoting account to Admin). Store said it was "already installed." So....I logged back into initial owner/admin account, and used the "uninstall" (not just unpin) option on the bottom of the Start Screen, thinking that I couldn't have them on two accounts so I'll get rid of them on one account. But...when I went back to install the apps on the new account from the Store, I get the same message. I looked for the apps via Control Panel, but nothing shows.

How can I get these apps to install/reinstall when they think they're already there? Are they on my machine where I can actually see/remove/use them? Where are they hiding? I'm stumped.

hmmm, my2cents, I see your response in my notification email, but not here...

You said: I'm not an apps guy at all. In fact, I don't even have an MS login; however, I have read that you can go to the store,
right-click, and select "your apps" to possibly do what you are describing.

Tried that, but same result, it shows as "my app" but I can't install it because the Store thinks it's installed already.

Guess I should have sought advice BEFORE uninstalling those things.

You were correct in what you saw, unfortunately, I realized that my suggestion wasn't what you were looking for so I (quickly) deleted that post. I apologize for the inconvenience.

You could try clicking the arrow at the bottom left corner of the start screen

And then search for the correct app manually, or typing in the name of the app in the search bar (highlighted)

Hi there. Just to let you know, the Modern/Metro Store apps won't show up in the Control Panel's Program and Features section. Those are Win32 Desktop legacy programs. They will show up in the My Apps section by right clicking in the Store app to get that menu option.

Not to put you down whatsoever, but using two accounts seems to complicate the issue. May I ask what your reasoning is this?

If you can't find the apps as DustSailor suggested you may want to try these:

Well...it beats me all to heck why, but when I tried to click on "Install" today (after not making any other changes), low and behold it worked just fine. I'd already tried your suggestion Dust, but had been continuing to get the same "already installed" message. I swear there are evil little gremlins in the new Win8 stuff, because there was no reason it shouldn't work before, nor a reason why it should suddenly work again.

My reason for 2 user ids is to use one as a standard account 99.9% of the time, and have the owner/administrator one for if/when it is needed.

If that is the case (great idea by the way), you don't need to install it for both accounts. That may be the problem to begin with. You may have thought that installing it on one automatically put it on the other, which doesn't happen. Apps treat different accounts as separate, and, unlike normal program installations, must be installed on each account.

I would recommend only installing it on the account you use (ie the standard account)

Glad it is now working

That was my original assumption (that it would show for everybody), but when I couldn't pin it to START on the standard account I tried to "install" it on the second account, which it declined to do. Initially at least. Today it changed it's mind. Go figure.
