Solved Cannot get into store after update to 8.1

When I first installed Win8 I decided to run with a local account (ACC1) and a windows account (ACC2).
I mostly used ACC1 and only used ACC2 to play some games which were not available for desktop.
After a few months I converted ACC1 to a windows account using a different email address from ACC2.
Everything worked fine and I thought no more about it until I did the update to 8.1 today.
After sorting out the important issues I found that ACC1 cannot get into the store.
Actually, I get in, but after a short time it just flips back to the start page.
ACC2 works OK, but it doesn't have all of my desktop apps installed because I installed those for the ACC1 user only.

I'd welcome any advice or info on how to :-
1. Fix the store issue with ACC1.
or
2. Merge ACC1 and ACC2.
or
3. Get the desktop apps to ACC2.

Hi Shaun,

I researched into the wee sma' hours here in NZ and eventually found an answer about 4 hours ago at 2am.
By that time I was so pooped I went off to bed.

In any event, I decided to drop ACC2 and to connect ACC1 to the original Windows Live account which I had used for ACC2.
Initially I hit same problem, but further research yielded an answer.
Using an elevated prompt I run the following commands:-
sfc /scannow
and
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.xml
which fixed things for me.

I think I might as well now stick with a single account.
Especially since my CRAFT syndrome has blocked the reasons why I went with two in the first place.

If only I'd found the answer before going thru' the hoops trying all kinds of connects and disconnects.

I wonder how many more surprises W8.1 has for us.

That's more of something going wrong with an upgrade. I prefer clean installs myself to avoid these potential issues, so hopefully Microsoft will add a supported method to do so with your Windows 8 key.

Unfortunately even clean installs do not guarantee immunity from glitches and errors by Gates' Gnomes.

I have now remembered why I had two accounts; I hate having to use a password or a pin to get into my PC, and I prefer to have only one name on my local account!
Is there any way to rename local account and to remove its password without changing the Windows account to which it is connected?

User accounts can only be a "local" or "Microsoft" account.

However, you could set Windows to automatically sign in to any user account you like at startup.

I disconnected my account from the Windows account and was amazed to find that the metro games (which is all I use on that side) were still available and that I can get into the store.
Whether that will be the case after a reboot who knows?
In the meantime I'll set up a second account like I did before.
