Windows 8.1 and Metro Apps Issue

I recently installed windows 8.1 and now none of the default and apps that I installed don't work, I have tried to refresh but even the pc settings doesn't open, I really want to avoid deleting all my stuff so if someone has a solution that would be great

if you need any more information reply to this thread and I can post more information as it is needed

Here is a picture of my start menu to help you understand what im getting at and the apps are messed up

In the All apps view the apps look like "ms-resource:BingSeach" and stuff like that

I'm having the same problem Colin!
None of my apps will open (including Store and PC Settings)
I really hope MS or someone else finds a solution soon.
I've tried the link provided by Shawn, but nothing has worked

Windows 8.1 Update = Metro Apps don't work

so i updated to windows 8.1 and now none of my metro apps work and my computer has a black screen for like 5 mins when i turn it on but after the 5 mins it turns on.


i would refresh my computer but sadly, the PC Settings doesn't even open i tried using my windows 8 disk to reinstall it but it wont let me keep any of my programs or files when i reinstall.


If anyone knows a fix to this that would be helpful
