Playing around with a SSD with win7 Ulitmate.
Did a full image backup with NG15 and went ok.
Updated to Win8 and them to Win8.1 to see what it looked like
Did the Full image backup from the Norton CD and it created the backup
I Looked at the file it created and did not have any file extension.
Restore with my Win7 image ok
I am running the backup in native mode off the Norton CD wehn u boot it.

Does it work with Win8.1 Pro?

Thanks

Gary

And...adding to that...I wouldn't bother....macrium Reflect does the same , it's faster , less of a resource hog and it's FREE

I initially updated to SSR 2013 and it's really just Norton renamed....

Hi there
surprised GHOST is even around any more -- it certainly won't be any good if you need to restore from USB3 /SATA2 type devices via a boot mechanism on a secured boot machine.

As others have said Macrium does a passable job -- I prefer the commercial solutions such as ATH2014 - cheap enough, can run from within windows (or a Windows to Go external device) and can schedule incremental backups etc -- but Macrium (Free) is good enough for your purposes.

Cheers

NO, Norton Ghost is a cut down version of SSR Desktop Edition.

I have to disagree with you there , having used Norton ever since it was originally released , for all intents and purposes , for an average user who just wants to do a system backup , Norton and SSR are essentially just the same product renamed , sure SSR has a few extra 'bells and whistles', they even kept the same interface.
