This post is more of a FYI, rather than an attempt to solve a problem, since it's resolved.
I spent more than two days trying to get my Brother MFC-7460 printer (than scans perfectly in Windows 7) to scan with PaperPort, but no dice! That is until "my2cents" got curious and decided to help me.
Long story short, I've lifted the beginning of the support page that says the following:
The following Nuance products are compatible and supported on Windows 8:
- Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12
- OmniPage Ultimate
- OmniPage 18
- PDF Converter 8
- PDF Converter Professional/Enterprise 8
- PDF Create 8
- PaperPort Professional 14
- PaperPort 14
Note PaperPort Professional 14 and PaperPort 14 at the end of the list. Well . . . that ain't perzackly true!
Scrolling down (which I didn't do, because I believed what I was reading) you find:
- Known Issues:
- Scan button is grayed out within PaperPort. This issue can be resolved by running the Scanner Connection Utility. See Technote 6937 for additional information.
I'm not sure that every MFC printer will be affected by this issue; however, I do know that when the problem arises, it's serious and that the solution is not easily discovered.
