Solved How to give certain programs admin rights that stick

Hi everyone

I have a small problem. I'm running windows 8 pro 64 and it appears windows is protecting it's program folders (or system folders anyways) from unauthorised modification.

So, for example, I have Trion's Defiance, which I play from time to time, and it starts through a patcher that can't patch unless I chose to run as administrator. Yet, if I look at properties and tick "run as administrator" it doesn't stick (my account has admin rights). I also changing the patcher.exe's rights, i.e, All application packages and giving it all rights (modifying sub folders etc). But that doesn't seem to work either. The only thing that makes it work properly is "run as administrator".
And I want to be able to execute this certain exe with administraror rights every time without the need to click on it every single time.

I guess I could just reinstall the game in a non-program folder, but I'd like to have it there. Plus, that might help with other programs too.

I actually tried both, although, I don't get the tickbox "run as administrator" in properties for the executable. Run as administrator works when I do it on the desktop shortcut (it does get the box, doesn't stick though).

The Metro start-screen link actually points to the shortcut too, not the executable.

I now just gave "all application packages" and "User" full control in the executable properties. So far it seems to work.

Hmmm... strange, doesn't look the same for me. I'm going to post a screenie too once I'm home. I doubt it is because I run the German version with the English (UK) language pack.

Though, it's also funny that the standard install path is in user/appdata. Though my user files are on my standard HDD and I wanted it to be on my SSD. The game is probably not conforming to Win8 standards. I'll also check if other Win 8 programs get your options. Moviemaker in your example is from windows essentials and thus surely adhere's to MS standards.

Thanks for your help so far, though :)
