I used to use Acronis (I have the 2013 version) but switched to Macrium a couple of months ago after Acronis failed me for the second time trying to rebuild a hard drive from an Acronis full backup. Acronis didn't get a 3rd chance.
The first time, I made a full backup of an SSD drive as I was going to update the firmware in the drive, and the firmware update deleted all data. I made the full backup to a separate hard drive, did the firmware update and then tried to restore but the Acronis backup was "invalid". I didn't have much on the SSD drive as I had just installed Win 8 on it so I just reinstalled. The second time, I had a motherboard fail, on a different PC, and when it failed it also corrupted the hard drive. I replaced the motherboard and tried to rebuild the hard drive. I had a recent Acronis backup on a USB connected drive and tried to restore but the Acronis Linux rescue disc would not run in the PC, fortunately I had an Acronis WinPE rescue disc that would boot but it wouldn't restore from the backup to the hard drive, it would keep failing about half way through the restore. I had Acronis WinPe discs from both Acronis 2011, 2012 and 2013 and they all did the same thing. That was the end of Acronis.
