I have purchased notebook with OEM version of Windows 8 – 64bit. The system is not professional version of Windows 8. I would like to run 32 bit application which is not possible to install it on 64bit system. Is there a solution for this problem?

Thanks Milos

Welcome to EightForums !

A great part of 32-Bit apps can work on 64-Bit systems, but there are exceptions to the rule. AutoCAD 32-Bit, for example, doesn't install on 64-Bit systems and there's no way to workaround it.

What program are you talking about?

There are a variety of reasons why a 32 application will not run on a 64 bit OS. Some 32 bit applications have 16 bit installers which are not supported by a 64 bit OS. The suppliers of some commercial applications have a 64 bit version and the 32 bit version is specifically designed not to work on a 64 bit OS. Most 32 bit anti-virus applications will not run on a 64 bit OS.

The best solution depends on the specific application, including version number.

I had to call MS to have them send me the link so I could install Office 2010 on my win 64 bit machine . the 32 bit would not work and I tried about 6 sources. They all had the 32 bit link. Dell also offered the link and both worked whereas the 32 bit link would not.
Call your manufacturer or MS.
