When I right-click on a metro tile in windows 8, the Open File Location Icon does not show on my task bar. What is wrong?

Hello Hawthorne, and welcome to Eight Forums.
The "Open file location" option when you right click on a tile on the Start screen is only available for pinned files, folders, and desktop apps. It's not available for Store apps.

Reply To "Cannot Get To File Location" for metro tile
Brink - thank you for your reply. I "pinned" Outlook.com to my metro screen and wanted to change the title to "Dave's Email". When I right-click on this tile, the "Open File Location" Icon does not appear on the task bar. Is this by chance another "exception" that does not allow me to go to the file location?

If you pinned the website from the Metro IE10, then it will not have a "Open file location" option and you will not be able to rename it.
If you like, you could use OPTION THREE to create the shortcut with a name you like, then "Pin to Start".
