Stop sharing programs between users on same PC

I'll try to explain this best I can:

I have two user accounts on the one PC, one for my wife (user) and one for me (Admin).
I dont want to use or see or use her programs. EG Word, Excel, Incredimail etc.
Likewise I don't want her to use or see mine.

How can I setup the users as if its two separate PCs? IE no cross use?
I've had a LONG hunt for this but doesn't seem to be any option never mind a straight forward one.

Thanks......

for Windows Store apps, they're already completely separate and there's no way for her to know what apps you have.

for desktop programs, if you really want to completely hide them, you'll have to install them to a different directory than the default locations like Program Files. and then hide the directory. remove the shortcuts that are showing in her account as well.

Thanks for this, its not so much 'hide' them, I just wanted to have 1 PC but set up as 2. I get what you mean about programs though, and that may be a solution. Not ideal either though. Any other suggestions, or is it easier just keeping 2 PCs?

it's easier to have 2 PCs of course.

but 2 user accounts should be sufficient unless there's some program you really don't want her to know about. She can't access your data unless she really knows what she's doing. But you can also use a file vault system (lots of third party options; heck I think Microsoft has them too).

Typically, during the installation of any program developed in the past 3-5 years, there should be an option prompting you if you want the program available to all users on the computer.

This is not usually the case with games and such, but something to be mindful of while installing something new on your account.

Each user has their own Start Menu. All users have the All Users Menu.

Navigate to C:\Users. Unhide Hidden Items and File Extensions on the View Tab of Windows Explorer. You should see a directory for each user including All Users. If not, double-check the Unhide selections and right-click Refresh. In the All Users folder, look for Microsoft, Windows, Start Menu, and rearrange as wanted. Inside each User's folder, look for AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu, and rearrange as needed. For each User, leaving out those icons you don't want a particular User to see or have access to.

Bear in mind that shared Apps, such as Office, can be in the All Users Start Menu or in each Users' Start Menu. They will have access to the program but NOT to your files, unless you share them. If in the All Users menu, they do not need to be in the individual Users' menu. Except for Internet Explorer, Media Player and Media Center, and Adobe Reader, which will re-create themselves in each User's menu if not already there.

Don't forget, once done, remember to hide Hidden Files and Extensions.
