Yeah, it's a bit of a catch 22. You want to help keep your clients' computer updated, but not if it may cause issues.
I suppose make sure that System Protection is turned on to have restore points created to help make it easier to undo an update if it causes issues.
If all it's updating is their bloatware, then it may be safer to just uninstall the bloatware and avoid the updates.
If the client uses it the software, then you could also give them a quick lesson on how to manually review and check for updates.
