The Maps App looks strange on my PC since there is no map. Perhaps there is something about my system specs that would explain it:

Hi Ronc. That's strange. All other apps ok?
Also 1)None of the movie trailers play in Videos App. It just produces an error:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are seeing this page, you have encountered an error in one of the Xbox on Windows apps:

  • Xbox on Windows Games
  • Xbox Companion
  • Music
  • Video
There's no Web Help topic specific to this error. However, the following information might be helpful.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And 2) In the Sports App, the videos are blocky/pixelated most of the time.

What seems very odd about this is that previous versions of Windows going all the way back to Windows 95 on a 133 MHz PC using Media Player or Quick Time worked fine. Of course in the old days over dial-up you had to download first. Now I have a 1.86 GHz machine that can still play videos in Media Player, stream them from YouTube or Skype using a 1.5 Mbps connection, but the Video App gives an error message for its own videos and the Sports App is useless due to the blocky videos.

You probably have, but just to be sure, have you gone into Charms bars > settings on all these apps to make sure all settings are ok? Internet access ok? Help files in the apps? How about uninstall and reinstalling? Sometimes that does the trick. I always recommend reboot after uninstall.
