Where and how do you access your programs in windows 8. I have been looking all day, and found nothing, if you want to run the disc clean up, I can't find it.

If you're using the metro UI, they're in plain sight. Just scroll to the right if you cant see them yet. Otherwise with the standard desktop, they are exactly where they used to be - in Program files or (if you want to uninstall) in Control pane- programs and features.

I have just downloaded Microsoft Office and I know it is on the laptop as I can open a document from an email attachment. However, if I search for Office on the start screen it is not listed. There is no shortcut icon on the desktop so I cannot use Office. Any idea how I find it and create a shortcut? I am using Windows 8.1

There should be Office tiles on the All Apps Screen.
There should be a whole MSO folder there. Click on the 'down' arrow:

Thanks for the reply Edwin. It is all about getting to know Windows 8! I had the alphabetical list of apps on the start screen, but didn't realise there were more to the right out of sight! I dragged the navigation bar over and hey presto! there they were!
