Modern UI and Old Desktop and System Apps

Hello,

I am a developer and also Windows user and curious about some things. From reading this forum, I think the nice knowledgeable people here will be able to help!

Are Modern UI apps truly sandboxed? If so, how will system apps like A/V, Firewalls, and others work from a sandboxed environment?

Can system apps from the Old Desktop scan and check things related to Modern UI apps?

I am trying to find out how much Modern UI apps and Desktop apps can communicate and coexist. Also, when the old desktop apps go away (if it goes away), how Modern UI apps will deal with System Applications.

Modern UI apps seem like WPF apps to me with an XML style interface and code behind with a new framework for the tiles. Is that correct?

Thanks!

you should browse the "Building Windows 8 Apps with C# and XAML" book by Jeremy Likness. he gives a good description of what's happening.
