hey guys,
For some reason I am not able to install any type of programs, either my computer freezes or the installation status bar doesn't move. I had the same issue while trying to install Google Chrome, eventually I was able to install the program but I honestly don't remember how i did it.
Here's another program I been trying to run , when I open it my computer starts acting really slow and I am force to shut down the computer. [h=1][/h]

Are you trying to install from a DVD drive? Or, from your computer? Seeing you installed Chrome, I'm guessing both?

From computer. If the software isn't compatible with Windows 8, would it still install? Or would I be experimenting what I mentioned (freezing computer/status bar getting stuck)?

Let's start with your computer . . . did you buy it with Windows 8 installed? Or, is Windows 8 an upgrade? Clean install?

In other words, is it possible for you to do a reinstall of Windows 8 without jumping through major hoops.

If it's an online upgrade (kind of like the Windows 7 anytime upgrade) you may not want to mess with a reinstall.

What I'm thinking is that you may have a bad install for whatever reason . . . I've also seen somewhere that Windows 8 has a problem with at least one video card, so you may want to look into the hardware forum to see if you find something about your video card.

I'm assuming you're running a 64 bit machine, since the the C++ you were trying to install is 64 bit. It's also possible you got a bad download of C++, but in light of the problems with Chrome, I'm not sure that will hold true.

Search for Irfanview (graphics) which is free and download that and see if it installs. There are numerous free programs out there you can download and try to install.

I upgraded from windows 7. I could re install Window 8 but I think I rather go back to Windows 7.
Here's a video I took while trying to install Avira Antivirus

I have a dual boot system; I partitioned my Windows 7 drive in half and installed Windows 8.

As I learn, I actually find myself going back to Windows 7 less and less.

I've had Windows 8 for 2 months and something, and this problem started happening about 2 weeks ago. Nevertheless, I just finish installing Windows 7 and my problem seems to be fixed :thumb:
