Hi there
I've a load of old DVD-RAMS which use RTAV / VRO / VFO type of files -- I'm currently in the business of converting all these to AVI / XVID using the generally excellent AVS Video converter but the converter tends to run as slow as molasses

I'm running on W8 x-64 -- Output file is directed to an SSD and the Input file is on an external USB3 disk.
Computer has 16GB RAM and AMD Phenom Quad 3.0 GHZ processor so there's plenty of horsepower to convert the video.

Is it my machine or is the AVS video converter just slow at converting these files.

I'm fairly new to all this stuff -- I want to get all my old DVD-RAM video's now into .AVI (or any other decent playable format without losing too much in the conversion.

Any of you Gurus out there -- any better converters out there or is the speed I'm getting "Par for the course" for converting these files.

Typically I have 2 films (about 3.75 hrs) recorded originally on to a DVD RAM in LP mode - the DVD RAM image copied to an external HDD..
I want to get these now into AVI (or XVID) format and it takes about 45 - 60 mins to convert.

Conversion job is fine but at this rate it will be the world firs "Y3K" project (year 3000 !!).

Cheers
jimbo
