I've had problems running Revo Uninstaller, free version, on two machines with Windows 8 installed.
It didn't matter which mode Revo was run in from safe to advanced. It would remove the selected program/app OK, but when it started searching for left over registry entries and files, it would appear to be running, but actually nothing was happening, even when left standing for 40 minutes.
Anyway here's a heads up for anyone who's having the same problem. I solved it by running Revo in compatibility mode for Vista.
Hope this may help.
