Hi I am new to windows awful 8!! I cannot use it and am trying to put my Microsoft word on my laptop but it says it cannot run as it won't recognise me as an administrator!! In laymans terms, (as I read your how to post and can't even find start!) how do I get it to see me as admin? X

I'm sure others will be along with better thoughts but.... What version of Word? Are you trying to install from a cd or dvd? If so, have you tried starting Windows Explorer, going to your dvd drive, right clicking setup.exe and select Run as Administrator?

I won't begin to address yet what happens when it asks you to enter the license key to activate it if it has already been installed on another system you're replacing. One thing at a time. Depending on the version, you may have to call MS to get it activated.

I finally worked out how to do it after a lot of faff, I have also started to sort of get around windows 8 a little bit better. I find it difficult to navigate but in sure it's just time!! Why they've changed the whole layout and removed start menu I will never know!! But I found a post that gave a command prompt line to insert which worked!

net user administrator /active:yes
and this worked. But I was finding it extremely difficult to find basic things, but hey ho, all is well word is on woop woop! Thanks Sarah :)
