Windows 8 People App

Newbie to Windows 8 here. I've noticed a peculiar behavior with my "People" App, and I was wondering if there was some way to solve it since it looks to be functioning in a way other than originally intended.

When I open the app, it doesn't default to the home page. It defaults instead to one of the friends on my list, forcing me to right click (or swipe if I'm in tablet mode) and then select the home button. Can anyone enlighten me as to the cause (or possible solution) to this issue?
