is this method safe for installing paid software apps to a drive other than drive C: safe?

what I'm concerned about is how licenses are handled. especially if I initially purchase software and installed it on the C: originally and then want to move it to drive D: or E: or whatever.
it wouldn't be an issue with my SSD until I started getting big games. big difference in size between a major game and a photo editor.
