Solved Dave's Quick search Deskbar install on windows 8?

Hello all,

I am upgrading to windows 8, however, I probably won't if I can't get DQSD to work. it is a taskbar search tool found here: DQSD official.

It hasn't been updated in a while but has been working on windows 7 with a manual installation see: sevenforums How to DQSD.

Does anyone know if this will work with windows 8? Can someone test it? Any information would be great!

i can confirm that the method linked above works with windows 8, However, i get an error when attempting to pick a different theme. so it is stuck on black. will update if i figure out how to fix the theme.

You should be able to change color schemes (DQSD themes) via the Configure-Load Color Scheme. They just won't look very good. I just checked it out.

Check the "C:\Program Files\Quick Search Deskbar" folder security setting, USERS should have FULL CONTROL of that folder for R/W access.

But MS changed the Taskbar colors. No Aero. So at the moment the color schemes are not very attractive.
